Tucson police paid homage Wednesday morning to their fellow officers who were killed in the line of duty.
The hour-long ceremony began at 9 a.m. and featured statements from Police Chief Richard Miranda and Attorney General Terry Goddard honoring law-enforcement officers for choosing a career dedicated to safeguarding their communities.
The ceremony, which memorialized seven Tucson police officers killed in the line of duty, also included a rifle salute and a helicopter flyover.
The ceremony took place outside the Tucson Police Department's headquarters, 270 S. Stone Ave. The lawn in front of the department was filled with uniformed officers who'd come to pay their respects to their colleagues who died in the line of duty.
Law enforcement agencies throughout the Tucson area are holding ceremonies to memorialize fallen officers this week as part of National Police Week.
