Student awarded prize
for anti-graffiti poster
A Sonoran Science Academy student’s artwork will be used on anti-graffiti posters across Pima County.
Nicholas Daniels, 14, created the winning artwork for the Pima County contest. Artwork was submitted by 17 young people ages 9 through 18.
Daniels will receive a $100 gift card, and his artwork will be used on anti-graffiti posters at schools, libraries and community centers.
Four runners-up will each get a $25 gift card. They are:Alyssa Fierro, 9, Copper Creek Elementary School.
- Bethany Fierro, 12, Cross Middle School.
- Iyonia Stark, 16, Marana High School.
- David Ramirez, 17, Las Artes Arts & Education Center.

Daniels and the runners-up will be recognized at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday.
Uncontested board races
likely to be canceled
Governing board elections will likely be canceled in 11 Pima County school districts because the races are uncontested.
The next step is for the Pima County Board of Supervisors to cancel the elections on Tuesday.
University High to host information sessions
University High School will host two parent-informational nights for families interested in enrolling in the next school year.
The first session is Wednesday at 6 p.m. on the UHS campus, 421 N. Arcadia Ave., followed by another on Sept. 18 at the same time and location.
Families of sixth- and seventh-graders also are invited.
