Twelve sports figures, half with ties to Tucson High School, will be inducted into the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 23, the group announced today.
They are:
- Dave Baldwin, a Tucson High School and UA graduate and former Major League Baseball pitcher. An artist after retirement, he has a painting hanging in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
- Eighteen-year Santa Rita High School boys basketball coach Jim Ferguson.
- Tucson High multi-sport star Rashida Jeffery, who played basketball at USC. She coaches boys varsity basketball at San Miguel Catholic High School
- Sunnyside High School track star Larry Martinez, who ran at Pima College and Northern Arizona and later coached the Blue Devils.
- Todd Mayfield, the former Tucson, Sabino and Palo Verde High School football coach.

- Former Canyon Del Oro High School and UA tennis player Casey Esparza, nee Pfordt, who is now the director of tennis at Himmel Tennis Center. She won the 2007 state title as a volunteer assistant at Tucson High, and has since served as a tennis coach for both CDO teams.
- Tucson umpire Joe Robinson.
- Former UA basketball star Warren Rustand.
- Former KVOA sports director Dan Ryan.
- Frank Coronado, a Tucson youth and adult baseball and softball player, organizer and coach.
- Si Ganem, who won six state titles as the Tucson High School boys tennis coach.
- And Anthony "Chappo" Riesgo, a Tucson High School state baseball champion who played at the UA and played and managed in minor league systems.
The list brings the hall of fame's total to 290 total members. They will be honored at a fall banquet.
"What we do is actually fun, and it's nice to get accolades for it," Jeffery said. "This is one of the greatest achievements for me."
