Two games remain before Pac-10 honors are determined, but one major award may have been sewn up last weekend.
With 41 total points in two games, and a block that led to Arizona's last-second win at Stanford on Saturday, Wildcats forward/center Derrick Williams further bolstered his candidacy for Pac-10 Freshman of the Year.
"Derrick Williams has been a great freshman," UA coach Sean Miller said. "If (Saturday's game) wasn't another example of him probably being the Pac-10 freshman of the year, I don't know what type of performance he would need."
Williams had 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting, went to the line 12 times (though he hit just seven free throws) and had six rebounds at Stanford.
Williams is "probably the best freshman in our conference," Stanford coach Johnny Dawkins said after Saturday's game.

Williams' stiffest competition for the award appears to be Washington State guard Reggie Moore, who played key roles in each of the Cougars' two wins over Arizona this season.
Moore had 20 points Jan.8 in WSU's 78-76 victory and contributed 12 points, six rebounds and three assists Feb. 6 in Pullman, Wash., when WSU won 78-60.
