How it works
● Sunnyside will hire a new principal from a pool of state-approved "turnaround" principals by the end of April.
● The principal will be expected to stick around for up to three years, the amount of time the state says is needed to see lasting change.
● The new principal will receive a regular salary, with the chance of earning up to $20,000 in bonuses from the state for improving the school's label.
● State officials are so confident this will work that there's no backup plan if the new principals don't follow through.
