Imagine we’re corporate board members. Our new CEO installs unqualified managers, shuts down marketing and quality control departments, and fires many experienced staff. He colludes with the main competitor to manipulate markets and force a third company out of business. A background patron – who has no expertise in our corporation or industry -- really drives his decisions. As directors accountable to shareholders, we would end the nightmare immediately.
We, the voters, are the shareholders in this scenario. Trump and Musk come from business environments where they dictate rather than lead or form consensus. Until our proxy holders (Congress) act to rein them in, Trump will continue to reign as perceived royalty. Individual and community economic losses abound: job and income loss, loss of homes, loss of programs’ benefits, tax revenue losses. Disregard of treaties and arrogant behavior with international partners parallel domestic disregard of the Constitution and our nation’s laws. If change is needed, reckless trashing isn’t the solution.
