The season’s inaugural Ladies Coffee is in the books. As always, it was a lovely morning of fun and lively conversations. Not to brag, but Sandy and I put out a nice assortment of tasty bites! Hopefully, this was the first of many more for the season. To that end, we really need a volunteer for the November and December Coffees. Email Mikki Shepis, our coffee coordinator at mikki17m@yahoo.com. Remember, you can co-host with someone.

I’m writing this the morning after our first event at the Gaslight Music Hall. At this gathering, 30+ members found out All You Need Is Love, mixed in with a talented Beatles tribute band, hot pizza and nostalgia. We sang along, clapped, swayed in our chairs and had the best time. At some point in the day, I’ll stop singing Hey Jude. Or, maybe I’ll switch to Penny Lane. The consensus was we should do it again. And we will definitely look at upcoming shows.

Our Jewish Friendship Group (JFG) Potluck Social will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5 in the HOA-1 Activity Center. RSVP by email before Thursday, October 30 to Hara Lipman at h_lipman@msn.com. Please put POTLUCK in the subject line.

The theme for this fall’s potluck is “A traditional Jewish brunch for dinner.” In order to ensure a variety of delicious dishes, please include in your email what you are bringing. It can be an entree, an appetizer, a salad, a side dish, a dessert, or bread/rolls/bagels; however, no pork or shellfish. The JFG will provide smoked salmon, bagels, coffee, tea and water. Please keep to the brunch theme, but since we already know the culinary talents of our members, we will enjoy and appreciate whatever you bring. The most important thing is to get together to socialize and enjoy sharing a meal with friends. The evening will also include the opportunity to vote for members of the executive nominating committee.

Save the DateOur Annual Hanukkah Party will be held at the Vistas in HOA-1 on Monday, December 15. Final details will be announced as we get closer. What we know for sure—it will be another successful evening of friendship, food, music and charity. This evening will include an opportunity for members to vote for candidates for the Executive Board.

News about our January pizza and salad buffet will be forthcoming. We are waiting for an available date for the Roadrunner.

Men’s Dinner — Due to Steve Rosen’s work demands, he is no longer available to coordinate these evenings. Hopefully, someone else will take over that task. If you are interested, email Sandy Rosen at sandyrosen458458gmail.com.

Book Club — Join us at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday November 13. They’ll be noshing and discussing the Goddess of Warsaw. Email Renee Mazin, Book Committee, at mazinrenee39@gmail.com for location and information about the books for the coming season and if you would host an afternoon of discussion.

We are a strictly social club, we are not affiliated with any religious organization. We welcome all our neighbors to join us.

For any further information about the JFG or any of our events, email Sandy Rosen, our president, at sandyrosen458458@gmail.com.
