Beau Renfro sings country music with soulful Western accents, the kind you find in old-school Texas music sung by Willie Nelson and George Strait.
The rough-hewn singer, who'll close out the Oracle State Park Concert Series on Sunday night, loads his 16 career releases with mandolin that is plucked, not strummed; fiddle and steel guitar played with a good measure of whine and wail; and percussion that sweetly balances out the melodies.
It is music that pays close attention to Renfro's Texas roots and the Western traditions of his adopted hometown of Tucson in both melody and temperament.
Renfro brings that country-Western prowess to Oracle State Park for a 7 p.m. concert at the park's historic Kannally Ranch House. Admission is $10 per person at the door. The 4,000-acre park is on state Highway 77 in Oracle, about 35 miles north of Tucson. For more information, go to www.friendsosp.org
