It’s not surprising that Tucson’s Rialto Theatre is the third stop on Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile’s upcoming “Burn The Setlist (The All Request Tour)” that kicks off Nov. 5 in Portland, Oregon.
It’s also no shock that tickets for her back-to-back shows Nov. 9 and 10 at the Rialto, 318 E. Congress St., sold out in record time on Friday.
The tour dates were announced on Monday and tickets — $103.50 to $273.20 locally — went on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Rialto box office folks said that within a couple of hours, they were completely sold out and the box office was fielding calls from some fans who complained that they went online early and still couldn’t get in the queue.
Brandi Carlile’s November shows at Rialto Theatre immediately sold out.
This is the first time Carlile is coming to the Rialto since her last show at the downtown venue in 2015.

The tour takes Carlile back to her roots in some of the older venues she played early in her career. It’s a chance, according to press materials, for her to “reconnect with core fans and old friends,” including in places like Tucson, where she was a regular long before she amassed nearly a dozen Grammys and started collaborating with superstars including Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, Maren Morris, Joni Mitchell, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys and Elton John to name a few.
Brandi Carlile’s last show at the Rialto Theatre, shown here, was in 2015 with her longtime bandmates, twins Phil and Tim Hanseroth. That show, like her upcoming Tucson concerts in November, was sold out.
Back in her early, early days, Carlile played the long-gone Plush lounge, on the corner of North Fourth Avenue and East Sixth Street. Her first show there was in 2005, as she was finishing up her debut album.
"We had 200, 300 people at our shows before we even had a record out, so that made Tucson our biggest city at the time," she told the Star in a 2011 interview before a show at the Rialto. "What a great place Tucson is.”
Carlile seemed to circle back to Tucson every two years or so back then and joked in that 2011 phone call about buying a Tucson vacation home.
When she pulls into the Rialto, it will mark a decade since she played her last — and biggest — Tucson concert, in August 2016 at the AVA at Casino del Sol.
Carlile’s Tucson show will include her longtime collaborators and bandmates Phil and Tim Hanseroth.
