A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night in the area of West Valencia Road, west of Casino del Sol, the Pima County Sheriff's Office says.
The person's name has not been released, pending notification of family.
The collision occurred about 8 p.m. Jan. 9. Preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was standing in the road, wearing dark-colored clothing without reflective material, when struck by a westbound vehicle. A second westbound vehicle traveling behind the first also struck the pedestrian, the sheriff's department said in a news release. Both drivers remained on scene, called 911 and rendered aid.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe a third vehicle, described as a lifted truck with large chrome wheels, may have also struck the pedestrian but did not remain at the scene.
