The public is invited to a free Spanish-language screening of a documentary about Southern Arizona Hispanic women with breast cancer this weekend.
The premiere showing of "Mujer a Mujer: Una Conversación Sobre Cáncer de Seno" ("Woman to woman: A Conversation About Breast Cancer") is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in the DuVal Auditorium at University Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell Ave. A screening in English is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, also in DuVal.
Scheduled to be in attendance is Dr. Ana MarÃa López, an Arizona Cancer Center breast cancer oncologist who also is associate dean of outreach and multicultural affairs at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. López spearheaded the film to address what she says is a lack of culturally and linguistically competent materials available for Latinas newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
