- In recent and coming weeks, more than 1,000 airmen from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base are deploying to various locations around the world. The Military Affairs Committee, part of the Tucson Metro Chamber, is sending them off with personal goodie bags — mostly snack food and drinks to enjoy while en route via military aircraft, plus games and magazines. Tucson McDonald’s owners Michael and Karen Osborne have already donated McDonald’s apple slices for 600 bags, and will continue to donate.
- Tucson Federal Credit Union employees recorded 2,275 hours of volunteer time in 2014 — 20 percent more than the previous year — and the business donated $93,267 to the community through local nonprofits and other tax-exempt organizations, such as schools.
In addition, TFCU has three programs that contribute to the community. The largest is its Community Partnership Award, which awarded $25,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson and $10,000 each to El Rio Health Center Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson in 2014.

- Southwest Gas employees raised $23,000 in donations for the Pima Animal Care Center. The donations, which are part of Fuel for Life, Southwest Gas’ annual employee-giving campaign, were presented at the Pima County Board of Supervisors meeting Feb. 10.
- For the school year 2014-15, to date, the Tucson Arthritis Support League has awarded $12,500 in tuition aid to three students with arthritis who are currently attending the University of Arizona. Since 1987, TASL has donated more than $164,000 in scholarship funds to Arizona students with arthritis.
