To meet surging demand for the iconic, aluminum Airstream travel trailer, Lazydays Tucson has built a specialty store on its property.
The 2,000-square-foot Airstream Store specializes in all things Airstream, from the trailers themselves to apparel, trinkets and even dog bowls.
Although there is a dealership that sells Airstreams in Phoenix, nobody in the Southwest specializes solely in Airstream, said Chris Trapeni, general manager of Lazydays.
“I figured if we built something like this and trained our people to be absolute experts, we could pull people in from 500 miles away,” Trapeni said.
Employees of the new store have been trained in all areas from sales to tech issues.
The Airstream Store may be located at Lazydays, but it’s separated from the other RVs at the dealership.

Its showroom, sales offices and retail space — designed by Wayne Swan of Intertech Interiors — were created to give consumers the experience of an Airstream before stepping into one.
The check-out counter is made out of the back of an Airstream — brake lights, license plate and all. The sales offices were designed to give consumers the feeling of being inside an Airstream looking out, and has desks made from parts of the Airstream.
The store carries every model of the shiny, bubbly trailers — motorized and towable. If a particular model is not in stock, it is either on its way or it can be ordered, Trapeni said.
“We try to have every model available at all times,” he said. “But, it’s virtually impossible. They come in and go out.”
New Airstreams run from $40,000 to nearly $200,000 depending on options, Trapeni said.
