One inmate remains hospitalized and four others have been released following a fight at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Tucson Friday night.
The inmate who remains in the hospital does not have life-threatening injuries, Greg Fizer, the prison's warden, said today at a news conference.
He said 45 inmates were involved in the fight in a unit of the prison where inmates are not kept in cells.
The unit houses 860 inmates and has 30 staff members, Fizer said.
Staffing was not an issue in the fight, Fizer said, and an investigation is ongoing.
The prison remains on lockdown and visitation has been suspended.
The fight was between Mexican-American and Mexican prisoners.
The Tucson Fire Department transported the inmates to hospitals last night. Others were treated at the scene.
