Former University of Arizona basketball player Eugene Edgerson was arrested Wednesday night on domestic violence charges. It was his second arrest in two months.
Edgerson, who plays with the Harlem Globetrotters, is suspected of assaulting his wife when she tried to call 911 during an argument, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.
Deputies responded to their home in the 8400 block of West Benidorm Loop, near West Ajo Highway and West Valencia Road, at about 11:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call, Barkman said.
Edgerson’s wife told deputies they were arguing inside the house when he assaulted her while she tried to call authorities, Barkman said.
When she reached for the phone, Edgerson grabbed the phone and caused an injury to her hand, Barkman said.
