Tucson police have released the name of the man who was shot and killed by an officer Thursday afternoon.
Louis Richard Arboisiere, 32, of Nogales, Ariz., was being sought in connection with a recent armed robbery in Sahuarita, according to Tucson police.
The shooting occurred outside a West Side house.
Officer Claude Ralls was patrolling Thursday in the 700 block of North San Rafael Avenue, near West St. Mary’s and North Silverbell roads, when he saw a white Chevrolet Malibu that was wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Sahuarita.
The car was parked in the carport of a house that had previously been investigated after reports of drug activity.
Ralls blocked the driveway with his patrol car and then called for backup. As he waited for officers to arrive, Arboisiere walked out of the residence, got into the Malibu and tried to leave.

Ralls got out of his car, drew his gun and told the man repeatedly to stop and get out of the vehicle.
The man did not comply with Ralls’ commands, and as he continued to attempt to get away, Ralls fired at him, striking him an unknown number of times.
Arboisiere was taken to a hospital where he died shortly thereafter.
Arboisiere has an extensive criminal record, according to Tucson police.
He spent time in state prison for aggravated DUI and theft, according to the Department of Corrections Web site.
