An argument late Friday night led to a shooting death on the south side.
Douglas Van Der Sloot, 46, was booked into the Pima County jail and faces a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 41-year-old Charlie Bencomo, Officer Brandon Tatum, a spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a news release.
The shooting took place at about 11 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Missiondale Road near El Pueblo Park. When officers arrived, they were told a GMC pickup truck had left the scene.
Officers tracked down the truck and pulled it over near the intersection of South 12th Avenue and West Nebraska Street. They found Bencomo, wounded, in the bed of the truck, Tatum said. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.
Van Der Sloot remained at the scene and was arrested.
