Arizona at 100: Boy Scouts to tap sugar maples while camping in Catalinas

The first two weeks of August will be spent by the Boy Scouts of Tucson in the delights of camping in the Catalina mountains, under the charge of Scoutmaster W.J. Galbraith.

Parents and members of families of a number of the Scouts will go to the mountains at the same time to enjoy the camping life, though not a part of the Scout’s camp.

While in camp, the Scouts will be given the customary drills in scouting and woodcraft. Further than that they will be given personal experience in building log cabins, constructing crib-dams, fishing, trapping, boating, tapping the sugar maples and boiling down the sap to maple sugar.
