Dozens of parents descended on Canyon View Elementary School last week to attend the Kindergarten Show and Tell there.
"Parents were invited to come and get a picture of Canyon View, what it looks like, and what the options are for incoming kindergartners," said Canyon View principal Marta Gunderson. "It's really to get a snapshot of who we are."
Parents were able to tour the school as well as participate in a question-and-answer session with the principal.
Incoming students had fun doing activities with their future kindergarten teachers.
"It's a time for the teachers to do some assessment of the kids to help us with placement for next year and for the kids to get comfortable about coming to kindergarten," said Mary Bangert, a kindergarten teacher who has taught at Canyon View for 11 years. "The kids are excited about coming to school because many of them have older brothers and sisters that are here and they want to be just like them."
