Gardens host regular tours
There's always something happening at the Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way.
Take a historical tour of the gardens from 10 to 11 a.m. the third Thursday of the month. Learn about the original gardeners of Tucson Botanical Gardens, Bernice and Rutger Porter. Call 326-9686, Ext. 39, for more information.

"Living with Urban Wildlife" is sponsored by the gardens, the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the Tucson Audubon Society. It teaches how to co-exist with wildlife in an urban setting and how to avoid practices that can attract unwanted wild animals. The class is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. All of these events are included in the price of admission. The gardens are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day and July 4. General admission is $5. Children ages six to 12 get in for $2.50, and younger children get in for free.
Reptile, amphibs show at Rodeway
The fifth annual Tucson Reptile and Amphibian Show and Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 30 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 1. at the Rodeway Inn Event Center, 1365 W. Grant Road. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages six to 12 and free for children under age six.
Reptiles on display will include alligators, cobras, Gabon vipers, poison-dart frogs and giant monitor lizards. The Arizona Gane and Fish Department will be on hand with its rattlesnake collection, which includes every rattlesnake subspecies in Arizona.
Vendors will be selling and displaying nonvenomous, captive-bred snakes, lizards, frogs, tortoises, turtles and invertebrates (insects). Cages and supplies will be available for sale.

Miramonte group holds meeting
The Miramonte Neighborhood Association meets at 7 p.m. tonight in the Ward 6 Office, 3202 E. First St. The meeting will be in conjunction with the sixth Miramonte Neighborhood Plan meeting organized by the University of Arizona's Drachman Institute.

Potluck, meeting for Flowing Wells
The Flowing Wells Neighborhood Association and Community Coalition meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday with a potluck dinner at the Flowing Wells Junior High School cafeteria, 4545 N. La Cholla Blvd. Bring a dinner item to share; plates, utensils and drinks are provided.
