Wendy's takes fruit bowl off menu
Wendy's patrons will no longer find a fruit bowl of melon, pineapple and grapes on the menu.
The fast-food chain dropped the entree-sized bowl and a smaller fruit cup last month — they just didn't sell enough.
Wendy's introduced the fruit items in February to provide healthier choices and counter publicity blaming fast food for Americans' expanding waistlines. The bowl cost around $4.19, the cup around $2.19.

After seeing two pictures of the man, "I said 'Oh, dear God, that man is dating my sister.' I knew that that was him," Linda Hembree said in a telephone interview Tuesday.
The show's Monday episode featured two women who had discovered they were married to Charles Edward Hicks at the same time. Hicks, 61, was arrested later Monday at the Charlotte home of Hembree's sister, said Julia Rush, a spokeswoman for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

Woman bites off part of cop's finger
MILWAUKEE — A police officer had part of a finger bitten off by a woman after he responded to a call about a dispute over a cat, authorities said.
Lt. Robert Menzel said the woman, 40, who called police Sunday had argued with a man about the animal and wanted him removed from her home. The officer, a 10-year veteran, tried to restrain the woman, and she became belligerent and she bit off part of his right ring finger, Menzel said.
Surgeons at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital were unable to reattach the finger part, the lieutenant said.

'Cell phone bandit' pleads guilty
WASHINGTON — A young woman dubbed the "cell phone bandit" pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges that could put her behind bars for the rest of her life.
Candice R. Martinez, 19, stood before a U.S. District Court judge in suburban Alexandria, Va., and entered guilty pleas to charges of conspiracy to commit bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Under a plea deal, the U.S. attorney dropped four counts of bank robbery. Sentencing was set for March 3.
Martinez admitted conspiring with her boyfriend to rob four northern Virginia Wachovia Bank branches. In one of the robberies, a surveillance video captured her calmly talking on her cell phone while at the teller's cage, waiting for the money to be handed over.
Martinez's boyfriend, Dave C. Williams, also 19, pleaded guilty to the same charges on Dec. 1.
