Officials plan to shut down underused and aging facilities in the Coronado National Forest to save on upkeep costs.
The process will take until September 2010. The move is part of a federal recreation facility analysis of Coronado and other national forests around the country.
"We're recognizing that use patterns have changed across the forest and (we're) being responsive to needs of visitors by removing old facilities which are not used anymore and concentrating our efforts in areas that are more heavily used," said Heidi Schewel, spokeswoman for the Forest Service.
These facilities are on the chopping block:
Santa Catalina Ranger District in the Santa Catalina Mountains
Two restroom buildings and shuttle stops in upper Sabino Canyon will be removed, and four picnic sites will be removed from Bear Canyon Overlook.

"Rarely used" picnic tables will move to Sycamore Campground in the Chiracahuas, and gates will be installed at Butterfly Trailhead and Box Elder Picnic Site.
Douglas Ranger District in the Chiricahua Mountains
A toilet, tables and grills will be removed at Herb Martyr Campground in the Chiricahua Mountains. A gate will be installed to prevent vehicles from entering, with parking still available on a lot near the site.
The Sycamore Campground in the Chiracahuas will expand and the Turkey Creek Campground will be closed, with tables and grills that are still usable moved from Turkey Creek to Sycamore.
Nogales Ranger District in the Santa Rita Mountains
A toilet in the Lower White Rock Campground will be removed. Stimulus funds will pay for a new toilet in the Upper White Rock Campground.
Sierra Vista Ranger District in the Huachuca Mountains
A restroom building will be removed from Reef Townsite Campground.
