The most competitive of these games are set for the 5A level, as No. 18 Sierra Vista Buena travels north to No. 16 Tucson High in 5A Sonoran competition. No. 11 Marana meets No. 24 CDO, while Ironwood Ridge clashes with Casa Grande to round out the region slate.

No. 15 Desert View versus Mountain View headlines the 5A Southern schedule, pitting the high-flying Jags passing attack against the consistent ground game of the Mountain Lions, with junior running back Drake Davis leading the way. Other contests include Flowing Wells at Maricopa and Cienega at Nogales.

In the inter-conference games, 4A No. 2 Mica Mountain looks for revenge against Sunnyside after dispatching No. 12 Waddell ALA - West Foothills on Friday. 4A No. 9 Walden Grove will attempt to get back in the win column against 5A No. 25 Casa Grande Vista Grande.

Catalina (2-2) at No. 12 Chandler Lincoln Prep (4-0)

Location: 19219 S. Gilbert Road, Peterson Farms

Notable: Chandler Lincoln Prep has not conceded a touchdown since Week 0 against Highland Prep West. Since then, the Lightning have scored 168 points in their last three games.

Desert Christian (0-4) at San Carlos (0-4)

Location: 860 US Highway 70, Peridot

Notable: A battle of two winless teams, San Carlos is looking for its first victory since Oct. 24, 2025 against Catalina. The Braves are a 2A Independent team, which makes them ineligible for the postseason. Zach Davila’s Eagles have lost three of their four games by one score.

Bisbee (0-4) at Santa Rita (1-3)

Location: 3951 S. Pantano Road

Notable: Santa Rita looks to rebound against a winless Bisbee team after falling 36-13 to Winterhaven (Calif.) San Pasqual near Yuma last Thursday. The Pumas have scored just three touchdowns in four games.

Scottsdale Coronado (0-4) at Palo Verde (2-2)

Location: 1302 S. Avenida Vega

Notable: Palo Verde dismantled Rincon/University in an ultra-rare 2A vs. 4A matchup last Thursday by a score of 35-0. Coronado has scored just one touchdown in four games while being outscored 230-8.

No. 13 Goodyear Trivium Prep (3-1) at No. 20 Tanque Verde (1-3)

Location: 4201 N. Melpomene Way

Notable: The Hawks have two rushers with over 270 yards through four games. Senior Beau Duke has 39 carries for 296 yards and four touchdowns, while junior Mason Sandoski trails him with 19 carries for 274 yards for three touchdowns. Trivium Prep senior running back Ben Wolfley is fourth in Arizona in rushing yards with 755 yards and eight touchdowns.

No. 9 Pusch Ridge (3-1) at No. 23 Florence (0-4)

Location: 1000 S. Main St., Florence

Notable: Florence might be 0-4, but remains in the 3A Top 25 due to its strength of schedule. The Gophers have lost to No. 4 Show Low, No. 3 Round Valley, No. 20 ALA - Ironwood and No. 8 Thatcher. Pusch Ridge’s lone loss came against No. 2 Crismon on Sept. 4.

San Tan Foothills (0-4) at No. 11 Sabino (1-2)

Location: 5000 N. Bowes Road

Notable: Sabino’s Week 3 game against Coolidge was dropped due to scheduling and holiday conflicts, which resulted in the Sabercats picking up a game against Odyssey Institute on Oct. 9. Sabino beat Coolidge 60-12 last season, then crushed San Tan Foothills 40-6 the following week.

Rio Rico (0-3) at Amphitheater (1-2)

Location: 125 W. Yavapai Road

Notable: Amphi got its first win of the season against Somerton last week at home. The Panthers now turn their attention to Rio Rico, a team that they have played every season since 2007. Amphi leads the all-time season series 14-5.

No. 1 Snowflake (3-0) at Catalina Foothills (0-3)

Location: 4300 E. Sunrise Dr

Notable: The Lobos and Falcons met for the first time ever in 2025, a 45-13 win for Snowflake. The Lobos are an Eastern Arizona football powerhouse, making the playoffs every year across the 3A and 4A levels dating back to a 6-4 season in 2004. Snowflake has missed the playoffs just four times since 1980.

No. 20 Sahuarita (2-1) at Sahuaro (1-2)

Location: 545 N. Camino Seco

Notable: Sahuarita and Sahuaro have met just three times, with the Cougars winning all three clashes. However, the Mustangs have significantly outproduced the Cougars’ numbers through three games, averaging higher numbers in every statistic.

Sunnyside (1-2) at 4A No. 2 Mica Mountain (3-0)

Location: 10800 E. Valencia Road

Notable: The second of two opponents Mica Mountain lost to last season, Sunnyside is the latest squad to come into the Thunderbolts’ crosshairs. Sunnyside’s win last season was the school’s first-ever win over Mica Mountain in three meetings.

5A No. 25 Casa Grande Vista Grande (3-0) at 4A No. 9 Walden Grove (1-2)

Location: 15510 S. Sahuarita Park Road

Notable: Walden Grove is just a few weeks away from the activation of star transfer quarterback Matthew Avelar from Salpointe, but the Red Wolves have done their best to make by with others, and have come agonizingly close to a 3-0 mark. Sophomore Jace McGee went 1-1 against Sahuarita and Eastmark before going down with an arm injury. Freshman Miguel Alvarez nearly led Walden to an upset of Tucson High with four touchdowns, but came up a touchdown short.

Cholla (1-2) at Yuma Kofa (1-2)

Location: 3100 S. Ave A #7904, Yuma

Notable: Kofa won the first-ever meeting between the two schools last season in Tucson, one of four wins for the Kings in their first four-win season since 2016. The Chargers have already dispatched Kofa’s longtime rival, Yuma High, 30-0 in Week 1 for their lone win of the year.

Empire (0-3) at Douglas (2-1)

Location: 1550 Estrella Ave, Douglas

Notable: Empire is still seeking its first touchdown of the season, having only scored a safety last week against Phoenix St. Mary’s in a 45-2 loss.

No. 18 Pueblo (2-1) at Glendale Copper Canyon (1-2)

Location: 9126 W. Camelback Road, Glendale

Notable: Pueblo senior quarterback Roman Otero and junior receiver Jesus Enriquez were Tucson’s most bountiful QB-WR connection last Friday, as Otero found Enriquez five times for 208 yards and four touchdowns. Otero was 11-for-17 for 350 yards and seven touchdowns total in a 56-7 drubbing of Douglas.

Somerton (0-3) at Rincon/University (0-3)

Location: 411 N. Arcadia Ave

Notable: Rincon dismissed head coach David Nunez after last week’s loss to 2A Palo Verde. The Rangers have been outscored by their first three opponents 161-6, and now look to get in the win column for the first time against a Somerton program still seeking its first-ever varsity win after 13 games.

No. 18 Sierra Vista Buena (2-1) at No. 16 Tucson High (2-1)

Location: 400 N. 2nd Ave

Notable: The first 5A Sonoran Region clash of the year between these two teams is a classic Tucson collision. The Colts and Badgers have played 42 times since their first meeting in 1976. Buena beat both Cienega and Skyline easily through the first two weeks before running into No. 4 ALA - Gilbert North for a 49-13 loss last week. Tucson sandwiched wins over Mountain View and 4A No. 9 Walden Grove with a loss to 6A No. 11 Salpointe in between.

No. 11 Marana (1-2) at No. 24 Canyon del Oro (2-1)

Location: 25 W. Calle Concordia

Notable: Marana finally got in the win column last Friday against No. 17 Yuma Catholic after a month and a half full of tragedy and hardship. The Tigers are poised to keep the winning train rolling in the 20th meeting against the Dorados on Friday. CDO’s last win over Marana came in 2023 during its run to the 4A title.

Casa Grande (1-2) at Ironwood Ridge (2-1)

Location: 2475 W. Naranja Drive

Notable: Casa Grande won a 41-40 nail-biter in 2025 after a 16-year gap between matchups. Nighthawks’ junior quarterback Maximus Harder is a Top 25 passer in the state through the first three games with 631 yards through the air.

Cienega (0-3) at Nogales (2-1)

Location: 12775 E Mary Ann Cleveland Way

Notable: Cienega has played one of the toughest schedules in 5A through the first three weeks, facing off with No. 18 Buena and No. 1 Desert Edge before narrowly losing to Ironwood Ridge 28-21. Nogales, a 5A Southern member, is 2-1 against three 4A teams.

Mountain View (1-2) at No. 15 Desert View (3-0)

Location: 4101 E. Valencia Road

Notable: The Jaguars are absolutely rolling through their schedule, winning all three games thus far by 30 points or more. Desert View dispatched Sunrise Mountain, Sahuaro and Phoenix Camelback in dominant fashion. Mountain View lost its Week 1 contest to Tucson High, rebounded with a 39-13 win over Trevor G. Browne, then most recently got rolled by No. 1 Desert Mountain 65-0.

Flowing Wells (2-1) at Maricopa (2-1)

Location: 42725 W. Honeycutt Ave

Notable: Like Nogales, Flowing Wells is 2-1 against three 4A teams across the first three weeks of competition. Douglas handed the Cabs a 21-14 loss in the season opener. Maricopa was paced by Mountain Pointe in the first week before rebounding with wins over Empire and Casa Grande.

No. 13 Glendale Sandra Day O’Connor (2-1) at No. 11 Salpointe Catholic (2-1)

Location: 1548 E. Copper St.

Notable: O’Connor missed out on a perfect 3-0 record by a last-second field goal loss to Mesa in Week 2, then upset undefeated Red Mountain to regain momentum for Week 4. Salpointe scored 10 points against No. 3 Chandler, allowing 409 passing yards to the Wolves’ senior quarterback, Will Mencl, the No. 1 QB prospect in the state.
