New store at El Con to hire 60-70 workers

Burlington Coat Factory plans to hire 60 to 70 people for its new store at El Con Mall.

The 70,000-square-foot store, at 3601 E. Broadway, is expected to open in March. It will be Burlington's first store in Tucson and its sixth store in Arizona.

The store will be hiring for a range of positions. Basic retail jobs will pay between $7.50 and $10 an hour. Supervisory jobs will pay between $10 and $12 an hour. Midlevel managers will make between $22,000 and $30,000 a year, while upper-level managers will make between $35,000 and $50,000 a year.

Staffers will be on-site starting in February, and walk-in applications are welcome. Those interested in jobs also can e-mail Burlington's district manager, Scott Erfert, at Scott.Erfert@ coat.com.

Erfert expects to have the upper-management positions filled in December and January.

File-shredding event set for Saturday

Pima Federal Credit Union will host a free document-shredding event Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its branch at 4841 S. Overland Drive, near South Palo Verde and East Irvington roads.

Phoenix vehicle show to feature 2010 models

Four hundred cars, trucks, SUVs, crossovers and alternative-fuel vehicles are expected for the 2010 Model Year Arizona International Auto Show at the Phoenix Convention Center on Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving Day) through Nov. 29.
