A 74-year-old woman three times accused of murder and recently jailed on fraud and theft charges forged the name of a dead man on an estate check and had the money wired to her account, court documents state.
According to court documents filed by Tucson police released Thursday, Marjorie Congdon Hagen attempted on March 19 to deposit a check for $11,181. The check was made out to a man and dated March 2, 2007.
That man died March 1 and, according to the document, Hagen forged his endorsement on the check, deposited it into their joint account and then ordered that same amount of money to be wired to her personal account.
Hagen had power of attorney for the man. Information on who the man was, how he was related to Hagen and the cause of death was not available.
Hagen was arrested at her East Side assisted-living home in the 6600 block of East Carondelet Drive March 22 and booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of theft, forgery, fraud and computer tampering. She remained there Thursday evening on $250,000 bond.

Tucson police declined to comment on the investigation as there is a possibility further charges will be filed, said Sgt. Decio Hopffer, a spokesman.
According to court documents, Hagen has been charged with murder three times and served almost 12 years in prison for setting fires in Minnesota and Ajo.
A Minnesota jury found Hagen not guilty in two of the slayings, and Pima County prosecutors dismissed a third murder charge filed against her.
