The Tucson Unified School District Governing Board appointed 11 people to leadership positions Tuesday.Â
All but three of the appointees already work for TUSD.
- Marisa Salcido, a learning supports coordinator at Soleng Tom Elementary, was named assistant principal of Lynn/Urquides Elementary School
- Sandra Calkins, a learning supports coordinator at Banks Elementary, was named assistant principal of White Elementary School
- Jessica Harris, a learning supports coordinator at Sahuaro High, was appointed assistant principal of Safford K-8 School
- Yolanda Torres, a learning supports coordinator at Warren Elementary, was appointed assistant principal of Utterback Middle School
- Antasio Holley, an assistant principal in the Baboquivari Unified School District, will serve as the new assistant principal of Catalina Magnet High School
- Alma Carmona-Alday, a learning supports coordinator at Sahuaro High, will serve as assistant principal of Pueblo Magnet High School
- Kathryn Bolasky, a TUSD professional development academic trainer, was named assistant principal of Sahuaro High School
- Timothy Grivois-Shah, an assistant principal in Des Plaines, Illinois, was named principal of Grijalva Elementary School
- Francisco Fuentes was named principal of Van Buskirk Elementary. Fuentes previously worked for TUSD, but most recently he served as president and CEO of ELL Solutions, LLC, Scaffolding and Maintaining Rigor in Los Angeles. Â Â
- Ana Gallegos, director of TUSD's Title 1 program, was named assistant superintendent of elementary K-8 leadership
- Eugene Butler, TUSD's interim executive director of exceptional education, was appointed assistant superintendent of student services.Â

The position Butler was appointed to is a new role, created in response to a recently conducted audit.Â
Butler will oversee the equity department, exceptional education, school counseling, student assignment and school safety. His division will ensure greater attention to student support on campuses, the execution of the student rights and responsibilities handbook, and promoting advanced learning opportunities.
Assistant superintendents are generally paid $105,000 to $120,000 a year, depending on experience,
