A "4-H Healthy Living Ambassador" training program for teens starts Saturday at the Tucson Village Farm.
The free program is from 9 a.m. to noon for two consecutive Saturdays — Jan. 10 and Jan. 17. It will include hands-on nutrition lessons, simple and healthy food preparation and leadership training.
The training is open to teens ages 12 – 18 years who are willing to commit to completing all six hours of training over the two Saturdays.
Once certified, the teen ambassadors are eligible to put their training and leadership skills to use by spreading healthy living messages in schools.
The idea is that youth can be encouraged to be instigators of change toward more healthy habits throughout their communities.
This Saturday's program is being held in conjunction with the annual Beyond Tucson event.
