A man in a wheelchair was struck by a truck Wednesday morning in midtown, and died shortly after at a hospital, police said.
The 64-year-old man, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was crossing South Swan Road at East Cecilia Street when he was struck by a northbound truck on Swan, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
The incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. The driver of the truck was a 30-year-old woman.
The victim was in an unmarked crosswalk, said Dugan.
He was treated and transported to a hospital by Tucson Fire Department paramedics with non-life threatening injuries. The man's condition deteriorated at the hospital and he died, Dugan said.Â
No citations have been issued, and traffic detectives were continuing the investigation.
