Lady Ember Brennen Sparks wore a bowler hat with a plaid green ribbon that matched her jacket, a corset, a skirt with black lace, and thigh-high black boots.
Leaning against a wooden porch, she posed while spectators snapped pictures.
Lady Ember is a Steampunk character that Kay Townsend of Phoenix created for the second annual Wild, Wild West Steampunk II convention.
More than a thousand people from throughout the United States have registered for the convention, which started Friday and runs through Saturday at Old Tucson Studios.
While most stayed in an area devoted to all-things Steampunk, Lady Ember was one of several dozen who attracted curious looks from tourists on the dusty main streets.
Hard to define, Steampunk is generally a mix of sci-fi and Western, drawing inspiration from shows such as "Wild Wild West" and H.G. Wells novels. Its most recent resurgence was on Joss Whedon's TV show "Firefly."

Mike Cannon and his wife, Maura, came from North Carolina, attracted by photos from last year's conference.
His outfit was classic Steampunk, consisting of a cowboy hat with large gold welder's goggles, brown trench coat and a dress shirt under a tan vest. He also wore a copper glove that he created himself.
Cannon said the former Western movie set provided a unique environment for the event. "The background with mountains and the old movie studio gives the perfect mood," he said.
The couple decided to make the cross-country trip after he was diagnosed with cancer six months ago. "They got the tumor out and life is OK," he said.
Krystal Chavez brought her daughter, 7-year-old Anastasia, to the convention as part of a family trip.
While both were excited to see a musical performance by Steam Powered Giraffe, Anastasia - whose costume consisted of a black painters hat, white fluffy blouse, and a pink skirt with black lace trim - claimed to be the group's biggest fan.
A D Cruize, also known as Roger Logan, a 56-year-old oil company employee from Houston, wore a safari hat with brown goggles, a white dress shirt and a light brown ray-gun holster across his chest.
Logan said he fell in love with dressing in costume when he used to take his daughter to anime conventions. He'll lead a panel discussion on the "Science of Adhesion" when making costumes - describing how "adhesives work and how to use science to attack a challenge and find a good solution."
