Cross-country teams organizing swap meet
Sahuaro High School's boys and girls cross-country teams are organizing a swap meet from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in the school's front parking lot, 545 N. Camino Seco.
If you have unwanted household goods to sell, you are invited to buy a seller's space. Cost is $20 per space, which is the size of one parking spot: 20 feet long and 8 feet wide.
Deadline for reserving a space is Friday.

County workers can see 9/11 documentary
Some Pima County employees will be commemorating the World Trade Center attack of Sept. 11, 2001, during their lunch hour by viewing the documentary film "FDNY Dream Bike."

The film is a tribute to 35-year-old Gerard "Biscuit" Baptiste and to the many who helped restore his dream motorcycle.
Baptiste was one of the firemen who died in the 9/11 terror attacks on the New York World Trade Center. The film was directed, narrated and produced by John Allison, a former New Yorker who works in the county's Information Technology-Communications Department.
Allison is a former firefighter who worked for nine years at a brokerage firm on the 72nd floor of the North Tower at the World Trade Center. Allison arranged the screening of "FDNY Dream Bike," a 48-minute video, and has invited several people to the screening, including Tim O'Grady, an Access Tucson video teacher who partnered with Allison to make the documentary.
Also attending will be Dan Rowan, a 20-year FDNY veteran of Ladder 9 and organizer of the "Thank You America Bike Tour." Rowan is a Marana policeman who was recently named that town's officer of the year.
Carlos Vasquez, a FDNY fire fighter who works Ladder 9 in Lower Manhattan, also has been invited.
Allison, O'Grady, Rowan and Vasquez will be available for questions after the film.
The film and presentation will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Pima County Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, first floor, Administration Building, 130 W. Congress St.
It's free and open to the public.

Days of Caring plans Menlo Park makeover
For 2009's Days of Caring, Tucson Vice Mayor Regina Romero and the Ward I staff, the Menlo Park Neighborhood, University Physicians Healthcare and Premier Paving will give Menlo Park Elementary School a makeover.
Residents throughout the city are encouraged to take part, especially Menlo Park alumni and families with current students.
The makeover will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the school at 1100 W. Fresno St.
Days of Caring is an annual communitywide event sponsored by the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona. Premier Paving will donate time and materials to repave the school's back parking lot. University Physicians Healthcare volunteers will repaint the cafeteria.
In addition, neighborhood residents will use their talents to update the school with landscaping and beautification projects. Tucson Fire Department will have a truck on display and will offer information on fire safety.
Volunteers are asked to bring a hat, a water bottle, gloves, shovels and rakes. Drought-resistant native plants, paintbrushes, paint pans and dropcloths are needed. Monetary donations are also appreciated.
