A 28-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed Monday night by a semi-truck on the Tucson area's northwest side, the Pima County Sheriff's Department says.
The department gave the following account in a news release Tuesday:
The collision of the truck and the man occurred at the intersection of North Thornydale Road and West Turkey Lane, just after 9:45 p.m. Sept. 29.
An off-duty Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper witnessed the collision, immediately called 911 and remained at the scene.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
As part of the investigation, detectives were notified by a local behavioral health facility that one of its patients was missing. That information was consistent with the description of the deceased pedestrian, later identified as Jordan Caleb Estes.
