The rate of positive tests for Covid-19 in Western New York dipped slightly on Sunday, while the region continued to have the highest positive test rate among the state's 10 regions, according to figures released by Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office on Monday.
On Sunday, 1.9% of Covid-19 tests in the five-county WNY region came back positive, according to the governor's office.
That's down from 2% on Saturday, but still up from 1.2% Friday, 1.6% on Thursday and 1.8% Wednesday. The positive test rate indicates the percentage of all tests that come back positive.
For the state's Covid-tracking purposes, the region is defined as Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Allegany counties. After WNY, the region with the next highest positivity rate was Mid-Hudson at 1.2%. The Finger Lakes region, which includes Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming counties, had a positive test rate of 0.7%.
