An 82-year-old man is in serious condition at a local hospital after suffering more than 100 bee stings, authorities said.
At about 10:45 a.m. firefighters were called to a home in the 9000 block of East Chickamauga Street, near East Broadway and South Camino Seco, after a man said he had been stung more than 100 times, Tucson Fire Department spokeswoman Capt. Tricia Tracy said.
Firefighters found the man inside his home, with his dog, and several bees were inside as well, Tracy said. He was taken to a nearby residence for treatment and then taken to a local hospital.
Bee removal specialists are working to get rid of the swarm, which are Africanized and likely came from more than one bee colony located in the neighborhood, said Tom Martin, president of AAA Africanized Bee Removal Specialists.
"These bees have terrorized this neighborhood, they've terrorized the fire department," Martin said.

The man's dog was also stung, but only a few times, Tracy said. Firefighters are telling neighbors to keep their animals inside, she said.
