Medical helicopter crashes in Arizona
June 29, 2008: Two medical helicopters, including one from Air Methods Corp., collide in midair less than a mile from Flagstaff Medical Center. Six people aboard the copters die; another dies several days later.
March 4, 1992 - Pilot Dale Matthews, 32, and Tucson flight nurse Susan Ben-Asher Newton, 26, are killed during an evening flight from Tucson to pick up a patient at a Safford hospital when the medevac helicopter they are in crashes at about 8,200 feet in the Pinaleno Mountains southwest of Safford. Glenn Velardi, a 34-year-old paramedic, survives.
