HUALAPAI INDIAN RESERVATION - Swiss "JetMan" Yves Rossy canceled his first U.S. flight in a jet-propelled wing suit Friday, deciding at the last minute that he hadn't done enough training to complete the challenging stunt.
Rossy had planned to jump from a helicopter, then soar above Arizona's scenic Grand Canyon.
The Federal Aviation Administration says it learned of his plan through public reports and sent a letter to the adventurer late last week about what he needed to do ensure safety standards were met.
The agency gave Rossy, 51, final approval for the stunt Friday morning, less than an hour before he was scheduled to take off.
"If I do a mistake and half of U.S. television (is here), it's really bad for you, for me, for everybody," Rossy told The Associated Press from a Hualapai Reservation lookout point where onlookers planned to watch him take off.

He said he would still like to do the stunt, but he has not yet rescheduled it.
Rossy, who calls himself the JetMan, has talked about soaring over the Grand Canyon for years.
He told the AP in an interview Thursday that he started planning for the stunt two years ago.
