A Tucson man convicted in a federal child-porn case has been sentenced to 14 years in prison, authorities say.
Duane “Sparky” Lee Johnsen, 55, was sentenced last week by U.S. District Judge John C. Hinderaker to 168 months in prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Arizona said in a news release.
A federal jury convicted Johnsen in Sept 2023 of receipt, access and possession of child pornography. Once released, Johnsen will be on supervised release for life and required to register as a sex offender, the release said.
The case was handled by Homeland Security Investigations in Tucson.
In a search of Johnsen's house in December 2019, agents recovered numerous computers that confirmed Johnsen had been searching, downloading, categorizing and saving a large number of child sex-abuse images. He also, had a "manual on how to groom children," and animated comics depicting child sex abuse, the release said.
