A former Rincon High School teacher will be spending at least one year behind bars after admitting Monday she had sex with a 16-year-old student.
Jennifer Lynn Whiting, 33, was indicted in July 2010 on eight felony charges alleging she had an affair with the boy, smoked marijuana with him and sent him sexually explicit photos of herself.
On Monday, Whiting pleaded guilty to one felony sexual conduct charge.
Whiting will either be sentenced to probation with one year in jail or receive a prison sentence of between two years and 8 years, 9 months, under the terms of her plea agreement. She will also have to register as a sex offender.
Pima County Superior Court Judge Howard Fell will sentence Whiting Dec. 5.
Whiting was arrested after a cousin saw Whiting drop the boy off at a park and his father found the incriminating photos on his son’s cell phone.
