A man who tried to extort money from the owners of El Güero Canelo restaurants was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison Tuesday.
Eduardo A. Sabori, 36, will also have to serve three years of supervised release once his prison term is up, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
He pleaded guilty to interfering with commerce by threats or violence.
Sabori, of Tucson, admitted in federal court that he tried to extort $600,000 from the restaurant owners last summer.
Sabori sent several ransom and demand letters that threatened harm, including death, to the owners, family members and employees.
Sabori was arrested by FBI agents after he retrieved what he thought was a duffel bag containing ransom money left in a trash bin.
