First-degree murder charges against two men accused of stabbing a homeless man to death in a Downtown alley have been dismissed.
Maxamillano Solano Paredes, 53, and Brian Curtis Stewart, 26, who are also homeless, were arrested Sept. 17 after police found David J. Quintana stabbed multiple times in the alley north of East Congress Street and North Scott Avenue.
The charges against both men were dismissed Sept. 26, according to online court records. The charges were dismissed because the Pima County Attorney's Office requested additional evidence from Tucson police, said Sgt. Decio Hopffer, a TPD spokesman.
Quintana, 36, reportedly got into a fight with Paredes and Stewart before the stabbing, according to Tucson police.
After police arrived, he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
