The International Festival of Tucson was held last Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., sponsored by the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church and Sonia Hariri.
The fundraiser featured international cuisines, desserts and artwork from Tucson artisans.
"This is the biggest fundraising event we have this year," said Lucy Abdulnour, chairwoman of the church. "It started in 2008 as a fundraiser to help build our new church.
"We have vendors, artisans, our church bookstore and live entertainment, food and music today," said Abdulnour. The idea of hosting an international festival stemmed from the many nationalities represented in the congregation.
Every year the church aims to raise about $20,000, said Rachel Atwood, co-chair of the church.
"We also do other things throughout the year. Sometimes we'll have themed luncheons and other activities."
