A South Side assisted-living home will invite the community out for an afternoon of singing, dancing and pie-throwing during the facility's Spring Fling.
The Su Casa Nursing Home and Assisted Living facility, 720 W. 41st St., will host the event on Friday, and it will feature food, games and entertainment, said Barbara Chastain, activity director for the facility.
"It's a fun day for residents to play games and enjoy fellowship with other people," Chastain said.
The event will have a carnival atmosphere, with singers, dancers, clowns, face-painting and prizes. Some of the games will include ring toss and pie-and dart-throwing, she said.
Money raised will go into an activity account for the residents and will allow them to do more activities outside the facility, she said.

"It will allow them to go bowling, help provide funds for movies and extra activities that cost money," she said.
All of the residents have fixed incomes and no other money to supplement their incomes.
But the residents will get more than additional money, she said.
"It's very important that they have contact with people outside of the facility to prevent them from feeling isolated from the rest of the world," she said.
