Cox Communications is now part of Spectrum, completing a deal that has been in the works for more than a year and will touch thousands of broadband and cable subscribers in Arizona.
Charter Communications, which owns Spectrum, announced the closing of the $34.5 billion deal on Aug. 20.
Spectrum notified Cox's residential and business customers in Arizona that while the company's name was new, their prices and current plan would remain the same unless they decided to change them. In addition, their equipment would continue working, their account information wouldn't change, and automatic payments and billing would continue as usual.
The company is also offering current Cox internet customers a free year of mobile service if they don't already subscribe to Cox Mobile, according to a company news release. Spectrum plans to launch its full suite of broadband and video products to new and existing customers in Cox markets in mid-September, the company said.

Cox Enterprises, which began its cable operations in Arizona in 1995, reported 3,307 Arizona employees in 2025. After the deal, Cox Enterprises and its subsidiaries now own approximately 26% of the combined entity’s fully diluted shares outstanding, the company said.
The deal was first announced in May 2025 and had to be approved by federal and state regulators. The last state to approve was California, on Aug. 13.
The combined parent company will adopt the name Cox Communications within one year of closing but will continue to operate as Spectrum across all markets, the company said. Its headquarters will remain in Stamford, Connecticut, but will keep a significant presence in Atlanta, where Cox has its current headquarters.
