Departing Arizona men's basketball seniors Tobe Awaka and Anthony Dell'Orso were among 696 athletes named to the Big 12's Winter All-Academic team.
Arizona had 46 honorees, including eight who posted 4.0 grade point averages. Inclusion on the Big 12 academic team requires a 3.20 grade point average and participation in 20% of a team's events.
UA men's basketball had a total of five honorees, including walk-on players Addison Arnold, Sven Djopmo and Jackson Francois. The UA women's swimming and diving program had 18 named, while men's swimming and diving had 11 and gymnastics had nine. There were no honorees from the UA women's basketball team.
Eight Arizona winter sport athletes recorded 4.0 grade-point averages: Gymnasts Jessa Janicke, Elizabeth LaRusso, Gianna Lenczner and Abigayle Martin, along with swimmer and divers Eleni Gewalt, Magdalena Hagsten Skarda, Emma Kinsey and Malia Rausch.

Awaka already has been named a second-team academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators, an honor given to players who are starters or key reserves and also maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average. Awaka posted a 3.59 GPA and is expected to graduate in the fall with a degree in business administration.
Individual GPAs were not disclosed in the Big 12's release, but Dell'Orso has been majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies-Social Behavior and Human Understanding.
Kansas led Big 12 men's basketball teams with seven honorees, including center Flory Bidunga and guard Melvin Council.
