Arizona continues to add high-profile opponents to its future football schedules.
The UA will face Virginia Tech in a home-and-home series in 2029 and ’30, the schools announced Wednesday.
The game in Tucson is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 8, 2029. It would be the first meeting between the schools, assuming they don’t face each other in the postseason between now and then.
“Even though this series is 13 years away, we felt it was a unique opportunity to schedule a Pac-12 team home and home,” Hokies athletic director Whit Babcock said, via Virginia Tech’s athletics website.
“Strength of schedule and securing high-quality, Power Five opponents will continue to be paramount in the College Football Playoff era. Arizona AD Greg Byrne and I have a good relationship, and we started this discussion back in the offseason.

“This series should provide a nice travel destination for our fans and alumni who can make it to Tucson and provide a wonderful experience for our student-athletes who haven’t seen that part of the country.”
