Wednesday was a pretty, pretty good day for Adia Barnes's Arizona Wildcats.
Barnes added two new transfers — both forwards — to the roster for the 2024-25 season. Earlier in the day, Jorynn Ross, who spent her rookie season at Pepperdine, came aboard and later in the evening, Ajea Yoakum, who spent the last two seasons at Florida International joined the program.Â
Yoakum
Yoakum, who will be a grad student, averaged 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game last season.
In a game in December against Alabama A&M, she scored a career high 30 points (10 of 11 from the field), scoring 10 points in the second quarter. She also made Conference USA's Honorable Mention team last year. Â

She spent her first two years of college basketball at Eastern Arizona. Yoakum is from Portland, Oregon, and played at Benson Polytechnic High School, winning a 6A championship in her junior season.Â
Ross, who will be a sophomore, knows Breya Cunningham and Jada Williams, as all three of them participated in the U16 National Trials.
For the first time in quite a few seasons, the Wildcats should have real depth at the post position. Yoakum and Ross join Cunningham, Isis Beh, Montaya Dew, previous walk-ons Brooklyn Rhodes and Erin Tack, fellow transfer Sahnya Jah and freshman Katarina Knezevic.
Barnes still has the option of adding another transfer to reach the cap of 15 players.Â
