ASU unveiled a makeover for its mascot — Sparky — today.
Many fans, however, seem to think the new look is lacking in anything magical and and merits a do-over — though that might be some UA-bias showing.
Disney teamed up with ASU to develop a new design for Sparky, first created by a Disney artist in 1946.
In fact — at the right angle — Sparky now resembles Buzz Lightyear. Maybe, it's just the over-sized head like the ones many of the characters wear at Disneyland.
Apparently ASU — which worked with Nike in 2011 to redesign the school's pitchfork — will keep using old Sparky on clothes, merchandise, banners, and other applications.
The new Sparky will be the on-field mascot.
In August the University of Arizona showed off a makeover for Wilbur and Wilma.
