There are three weeks left in the high school football regular season, which means some teams are on postseason life-support and in desperate need of a win on Friday night.
Salpointe Catholic (3-4) appears to be a longshot to make the playoffs – even if it closes out the season with three straight wins. But Sahuaro (3-4) is in the same situation and hosts the Lancers this week. Whichever team wins will keep the postseason dream alive for at least one more week but the losing team will likely be eliminated from Division II postseason contention.
Sabino (7-0) sits atop Division III's Section VI standings with a one-game section lead over Catalina Foothills (6-2). The Sabercats host the Falcons on Friday in a game in which both teams are jockeying to be in a position that grants a home game in the first round of the playoffs.
While Pueblo (5-2) may cruise into the playoffs with a commanding lead in its section, the Warriors travel to Oro Valley this Friday to face a 6-1 Pusch Ridge Christian squad coming off a big win against Flowing Wells last week. A win for either team would give them confidence nearing the end of the regular season in what could be a playoff matchup.
