One day last week, the UA arranged to have a group of ex-Wildcats involved in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas pose for a photo outside of the Thomas Mack Arena. It was impressive.
Posing for the photo were Phoenix Suns assistant coach Jesse Mermuys, New York Knicks assistant coach Riccardo Fois, Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Matt Brase, G League head coach (Rio Grande Valley) Joseph Blair, UA staff members and assistant coaches TJ Benson, BJ Burries, Ken Nakagawa, Przemek Karnowski, and ex-Wildcats Keshad Johnson, Caleb Love, Carter Bryant, Brayden Burries, Anthony Dell'Orso and Jaden Bradley. My one takeaway from the NBA's Summer League is that former Wildcat power forward Tobe Awaka had nine rebounds in a Monday game for the Chicago Bulls against Utah. Awaka played just 17 minutes. That should showcase his value to the Bulls more than anything else.
