Proposed changes next year and affected schools include:
Los Ranchitos Elementary
- Combining four special education classes into two classrooms, combiing two Language Development and Speech classes into one classroom and
moving El Centro Alegre Preschool to a yet undetermined site. That should open four classroom spaces at Los Ranchitos Elementary, 2054 E. Ginter Road. The committee also recommended hiring additional staff at Los Ranchitos for students expected to transfer next year from Esperanza Elementary. There were 560 students enrolled in the 2004-05 school year, according to district attendance numbers.
Esperanza Elementary
- About 135 students from Esperanza Elementary School, 2353 E. Bantam Road, would be moved to Ocotillo and Los Ranchitos elementary schools. Of the 135, 48 students who live in the KB Home development and reside north of Ocotillo Elementary School would be moved to Ocotillo Elementary. About 87 Esperanza students who live in the 5600 block of South Country Club Road would be moved to Los Ranchitos. There were 899 students enrolled in the 2004-05 school year.
