A new Super Target at 4040 N. Oracle Road is expected to open in October, with a grand opening set for Oct. 11, company spokeswoman Anna Anderson said.
Work is on schedule for the opening, she said. The general contractor is Adolfson & Peterson Construction, which has Southwest regional offices in Tempe and Buckeye.
Super Target stores, the largest class of Target, have expanded grocery lines and, in some cases, bakeries, delis and organic produce.
The 180,500-square-foot store is being built on the site of an old Target that was demolished earlier this year.
The store is expected to employ 200 to 300, Anderson said. "Hiring events" are usually held about 14 weeks before opening, she said, adding that there will be newspaper and radio ads, as well as notices posted at the new store, before the hiring sessions.

Target now has stores in 49 states — every state except Vermont — with a total of 1,699, of which 245 are Super Targets, she said.
She said she knew of no plans to close any stores in Arizona.
